The Great Cover Up May 30th, 2010

The operative word is “great”! A great company with great people! What is the first thing we car owners do to dress up our engine compartment other than reduce the dirt and grease with our handy spray washer? We add a set of shiny, smooth, chromed valve covers. Back in the olden days, “BC” (before chrome), we painted the valve covers and any other part of the engine we could reach with a spray can.

Then, along came Ansen Enterprises, Inc., with a variety of dress up options for our beloved autos. For over 40 years Ansen Enterprises, Inc. has been manufacturing the highest quality American made valve covers in the world.

Ansen takes great pride in the quality of their parts; their reputation in this regard has made them the aftermarket supplier for Mopar, Ford Racing and Carroll Shelby. There is no doubt that Ansen parts will add beauty and maximize functionality to your hot rod, muscle car, classic street machine or your everyday driver.

We, at the Pomona Swap Meet, take great pride in featuring Ansen as one of our outstanding vendors. Their booth at the Swap Meet is a must see. Located on Road D, Space 19, you will see one of the best and widest displays of aftermarket dress up parts for your engine.

Put one of these on your engine, wow! What a change.
Uh oh! You still have those ugly painted breathers. No problem, Ansen has the solution.

Now we need to top off our engine with a beautiful air cleaner. Ansen has the answer. Intake manifolds, fuel filters and other items to customize your engines are available on site at the Pomona Swap Meet.

Beautifully engraved valve covers and air cleaners.

You want more? You want your name engraved on the valve cover? How about your wife’s name, cars name, car clubs name, skull and crossbones, you name it, Ansen can do it! You can discuss your needs with Jonathan Blamires, General Manager or other Ansen folks at the Swap Meet or by calling the Ansen offices in Torrance, California. If you want your items engraved, call Ansen at (310)534-1837 and you are in for a real treat. You will talk to Ariel Rider, a delightful young lady who is the Sales Manager/Engraver/Phone Answerer/Jack-of-all Trades at Ansen. Actually, I guess she’s the ‘Ariel’ of all trades. She is fully knowledgeable with all things concerning:

Custom Laser Engraved Valve Covers
Ansen has the ability to customize any of their in-stock valve covers including Chevrolet, Ford, and Mopar. They also offer custom air cleaners and breathers.

They are the Number One place for all custom valve cover needs. You are invited to email your logo or sketch, or have them design covers for you. Email: Sales@AnsenUsa.com.

Ariel told me that laser engraving was one of their latest offerings and they are very excited to have this technology available to their customers. I got so wrapped up in our conversation that I almost had her name engraved on my valve covers.

The folks at the Ansen booth are all more than happy to meet and greet you. They are knowledgeable and will discuss any improvements you want to make.

Old Guys Route 66 May 30th, 2010

GO WEST YOUNG MAN!
GO WEST YOUNG AT HEART MEN!
THERE’S NO COOL LIKE AN OLD COOL!

How about four young at heart cool guys? One thing that makes them cool (at least in my eyes) is that they are old classic car guys, or classic guys in old cars. No matter, they decided to embark on an adventure filled trek across our great country. The plan is to drive their classic autos from Florida to Chicago to connect with old route 66 and take it all the way to the west coast They want to visit as much of Route 66 as possible making stops all along the way. They left Boca Raton on May 15th and when I caught up with them on the 21st they were just pulling out of Chicago headed for Springfield. Their loosely structured plan was to spend the night in Hannibal, Missouri and on to Branson the next day. Then to continue on to Tulsa, Oklahoma, “getting their kicks on Route 66″.

Their schedule is to end up in Santa Monica on the West coast on June 5th, take a few pictures on the pier and then finish at the Pomona Swap Meet June 6th prior to starting the trek back to Florida.

The group:

  1. Barry Margolis in a 1968 Cougar convertible
  2. Bill Strall driving a 1949 Packard
  3. Cecil Weipert piloting his 1964-1/2 Mustang
  4. And truck drivin’ Sonny Dolezel in a 1966 Mercury pick-up

You can meet and greet these gentlemen at the Pomona Swap Meet on the front row of the show car area. You can also follow their trip right here on the Swap Meet blog.  Just click on “Old Guys Route 66″ on the right hand side column under our “Blogroll” to be taken to their personal road trip blog.
